Google has revealed that in 2017, it blocked more than 700,000 rogue apps from the Google Play store. That's about 1,900 apps per day. Meanwhile, Big Brother Watch has used Freedom Of Information requests to establish that Britain's various arms of national and local government endured 100 million cyber-attacks in the last five years. That's over 2,000 attacks per hour. It's a dangerous world out there.

Bursting the bitcoin bubble
On 17th December, amid much excitement in the media, Bitcoin reached an all-time high valuation of over $19,000 per coin, before slumping to around $7,000 per coin in February, but with coin heists and the introduction of legislation, this is probably the beginning of the end for DIY currencies.

Music Business Worldwide (MBW) created the topic of debate in the music industry of late when it drew the world's attention to the case of an unknown Bulgarian who may have found a loophole in the way Spotify reimburses artists. Chrome blocking adverts? Surely not.
Despite claims to the contrary by the advertising industry, many internet users do not want adverts, and a growing number of people are turning to advert blocking software to make web browsing more palatable. Now Google has built an advert blocker into the latest version of Chrome.
Taking a longer view of images
Search for an image on Google, click on the thumbnail of the image you are interested in, and you will notice that the View Image button has disappeared.
