Health Minister Matt Hancock has said the NHS will not be allowed to buy any more fax machines from January 2019. I wonder how many hospitals rushed out to stock up on machines in the Boxing Day sales. Meanwhile, Digital Minister Margot James is again talking about ID cards and when asked about privacy concerns, said that people should just get over it.

Something in the air tonight
When drone sightings closed the Gatwick runways, Transport Secretary Chris Grayling told the camera "Britain is facing a new threat". New? Really? This "new" threat to air safety is one that many have warned about for several years, ever since the quadcopter became a consumer item.
2018, a breakthrough year for AI
Technology fads come and go. Most of them just go, but one which has come and looks like staying is Artificial Intelligence (AI). It is certainly the marketing buzzword of the year and it is hard to find any new product which doesn't include AI in the spec sheets, or any new research which doesn't propose using an AI methodology.
