MacPeople

MacPeople Digital Training Solutions approached us back in the early days of web publishing. They had developed an attractive and unusual design for a website but wanted to ensure it would work as well on the PCs of the time as it would on Apple Macs.

The site we developed worked equally well on both types of machine due to painstaking coding and care with palettes, and was designed to be fully compatible with Internet Explorer and Netscape, and also with browsers which did not support frames. As browsers were rapidly evolving, strict adherence to standards was important to ensure the best chance of compatibility with future developments. The pleasantly curved menu added visual interest, and other elements which were unusual at the time were the side-menu button bars which used javascript, and background images which had to be carefully processed to get good loading performance on the very slow modems in use at that time, (14K was normal, and 28K was a luxury).
