The Equality Act 2010, a piece of legislation to harmonise the various equality acts in the UK was intended to come into force in October, but with the change of government there are mixed messages about the timetable for enforcement. There is also an unresolved issue about how it relates to websites.
Microsoft pushes Tags against QR Codes
QR codes were relatively unknown until about six months ago when Google incorporated a QR code reader into its mobile phone software. Not to be outdone, Microsoft has begun pushing its own alternative, a multi-coloured coding system which it has dubbed the Microsoft Tag.
Status Quo fans need not apply
At a time when public bodies are being asked to count the coppers and find ways of cutting costs, one council has spent £10,000 designing a site which consists of three pages plus a PDF download.
