Skill Zone News issue 1
Hello and welcome to the first issue of the Skill Zone newsletter. This issue focuses on security and network abuse. Security is always an important topic for all computer users, and recent cases of discs lost in the post have served to highlight that government departments and big businesses all too often overlook security threats and safety procedures. Trojan is targetting people through MSN Messenger
A malware threat is currently circulating which poses as messages containing links to pictures on social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook. Typical come-ons involve messages such as "Wanna see my pictures before i send em to facebook?". Clicking on the link takes the user to booby-trapped websites.
Home routers may be vulnerable to remote take-over
Security researchers have warned a design flaw in some home routers allows attackers to remotely control the devices by luring an attached computer to a rogue website running a malicious Flash program. The flaw concerns the uPnP setting.
MS Office update disables some MS files
Microsoft's Service Pack 3 for MS Office, released in December, blocks the opening of some older format office files.

ICANN, the global authority on domain names, is finally responding to years of domain abuse by putting an end to "domain tasting".
